By Kids For Kids and ECOM Financial Sign a Deal to Bring Kid’s MasterCard Gift Card to Market

Stamford, CT (PRWEB) November 2, 2006

By Kids For Kids Company (BKFK) today announced a licensing arrangement with ECOM Financial Corp. to bring the BKFK Kid’s MasterCard gift card to market. The BKFK MasterCard will feature pre-loaded amounts of $ 25, $ 50 or $ 100 and will also include multiple promotional incentives from participating retailers. This unique gift card, the first of its kind created especially for kids, will be sold in retail stores in the first quarter of 2007.

By Kids For Kids star inventor Scott Barnhill first created the “Security One” card in 2001 when he was just 9 years old. This handy card saves plastic and space in the user’s wallet because the magnetic strips of several cards are loaded onto one card. The full power of Scott’s invention will be incorporated into the BKFK Kid’s MasterCard, which together with back-end software already developed by ECOM Financial will enable multiple retail promotions all to exist and activate from one magnetic strip.

“I am excited that By Kids For Kids has negotiated this deal on my behalf with ECOM Financial,” said Scott Barnhill, “my likeness and story will be featured on the cards which we hope will inspire other kids to invent.”

Parents will also be able to use the BKFK Kid’s MasterCard as an “allowance card,” providing kids with an easy method of learning how to manage their spending. Parents will be able to track their kid’s card use online, and can discuss their spending habits with them.

Isidore Papadopoulos, CEO of ECOM Financial stated: “Scott and the entire By Kids For Kids organization provide innovations that help kids in numerous unique ways. Coupled with the features offered on the ECOM MasterCard product, kids and parents will be able to conduct commerce more efficiently and more securely. We look forward to working with BKFK.”

Norman Goldstein, Founder and CEO of By Kids For Kids Co. commented: “We are delighted to partner with ECOM Financial on the BKFK Kid’s MasterCard, featuring technology developed by Scott Barnhill. It’s great to see Scott’s invention utilized on this special card that will benefit kids and parents alike.”

National Kids to Kids Day Celebrates a New Generation of Global Leaders and Citizens

National Kids to Kids Day Celebrates a New Generation of Global Leaders and Citizens

National Kids to Kids Day is April 30th!

Waltham, MA (Vocus) April 26, 2010

World Connect, formerly Infante Sano, a non-profit that empowers local leaders in underserved communities to solve local problems, today announced plans for the celebration of the first-ever National Kids to Kids Day on April 30. This coordinated event will raise awareness and funds for the Kids to Kids program to bring about positive change in the lives of kids everywhere.

“National Kids to Kids Day is a celebration of the many kids in the US who are committed to getting involved and changing the lives of their peers around the world,” said Sarah Henry, executive director of World Connect. “The day is also a celebration of the thousands of kids in our partner countries who are taking part in the projects Kids to Kids funds. However, in many ways, this day is most about kids everywhere recognizing they are citizens of a global community and that they can have an active role in shaping their collective future.”

For Kids to Kids Day, students are holding local events that spotlight the gap in basic opportunities for youth in education, recreation and cultural programs in countries around the world. The goal is to encourage more students to get involved with Kids to Kids by becoming Kids to Kids Members, helping to raise money and awareness and joining in the online voting that determines which overseas projects are funded. (Read more about the recent round of grants funded by Kids to Kids in “World Connect Funds 51 New Projects through Kids to Kids Program.”

Some of the events our members have planned include:

Groton School, MA: Kids to Kids members are hosting an environment themed day with a cookout, t-shirt sale and student dance
Wayland High School, MA: Kids to Kids members are hosting a movie night fundraiser
Bayview High School, RI: Kids to Kids members are holding a candygram fundraiser at school

For others looking to plan an event for Kids to Kids Day, World Connect offers a toolkit on the Kids to Kids Website.

National Kids to Kids Day comes at an exciting time as the Kids to Kids program is growing on multiple fronts. Kids from 15 states have taken the membership pledge and are helping to build the program in their schools and communities. Kids to Kids is now working to fund projects in 10 countries and, with a total of 230 projects, has affected the lives of more than 12,000 kids abroad.

About Kids to Kids

World Connect’s youth-led Kids to Kids Program empowers local leaders in underserved communities to solve local problems affecting kids. To date, Kids to Kids has reached over 12,000 kids by providing microgrants at the community level in Belize, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, and El Salvador, and is currently accepting proposals for new projects in Ecuador, Mali, Morocco, Peru, Philippines and Rwanda.
