The Herb Lady Announces Classes for the New Year
Mesa, AZ (PRWEB) January 12, 2006
Growing edibles in the Desert Southwest (and other similar year-round climates) is a joy for gardeners, but new-to-desert-gardening find getting started intimidating because of a flip-flop of seasonal planting schedules, and the fear-factor of summer heat. Learn why Basil loves the heat and how to grow old favorites and unusual herbs; and, how to take them into the kitchen, perfume the air with delicious scents, and good taste at the table.
Catherine, The Herb Lady teaches how to have successful, year-round gardens of edibles in her “Grow & Enjoy Culinary Herbs” class offered at the Desert Botanical Garden in Phoenix, the Red Mountain Multi-Generation Center in Mesa, and Chandler-Gilbert Community College in Gilbert.
The Herb Lady’s popular “Decorative and Edible Vinegars Class” is also offered at those locations. This fun class teaches how to make attractive and useful vinegars from edibles, with ways to cook, clean and even use for skin and hair care.
New this year is The Herb Lady’s “Appetizing Cocktail Party” class where students will learn to make an appetizer and cocktail party really ‘cook’ with the addition of herbs in this hands-on demonstration, and sample new ways with old favorites and unusual twists to tastier food. Offered at the Red Mountain Multi-Generation Center in Mesa.
At the Boyce Thompson Arboretum’s Annual “Herb Festival” April 8, 2006, Catherine will be demonstrating, sampling and answering questions on delicious ways with herbs.
Class and event schedule is available at the website http://www.herbs2u.net, click on “learn” for details.
The Herb Lady, author of the book “Edible Landscaping in the Desert Southwest: Wheelbarrow to Plate,” is also a regular guest on Ed Phillip’s streaming radio http://www.azalmanac.com, and her column appears monthly in the East Valley Tribune and Scottsdale Progress.
Herbs 2 U was founded to educate and inform folks on gardening with herbs, edible flowers and other edible plants, and then bringing those useful and flavorful plants into the kitchen and creating mouthwatering meals.
